In this study, we present a slope-assisted configuration for fiber-optic temperature sensing using multimodal interference (MMI) in a single-mode–multimode–single-mode structure. By measuring the power in the slope of the MMI spectrum, this method overcomes conventional limitations, enabling high-speed temperature measurement without the need for wavelength sweeping. The operational principles of this technique are described in detail, and a thorough evaluation of its limitations is conducted.
